These adult-friendly cookies will have you saying "it's 5 o'clock somewhere." Not only do they taste like a margarita, but there's tequila in the glaze and jelly!

Note: follow the recipe carefully. You really need the lime zest, not just fresh lime juice, to get the full margarita flavor.

Makes 35 cookies.

Ingredients:

Cookies

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons silver tequila
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • Jar of Laurel Hill Margarita Jelly

Glaze

  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons silver tequila
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

Directions:

Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Combine butter and sugar in bowl.
  3. Add yogurt, lime zest, and tequila. Then add baking powder, soda, salt, and flour.
  4. Form dough into balls the size of a walnut and place on cookie sheet. Flatten balls of dough slightly with back of a spoon and add Laurel Hill Margarita Jelly in each imprint.
  5. Bake for 12 minutes then allow cookies to cool on the pan for 2 minutes before transferring to wire rack to cool completely.

Glaze

  1. Combine powdered sugar, tequila, and fresh lime juice and mix well.
  2. Use a spoon to pour a small amount of glaze on each cookie and spread with the back of a spoon. Glaze with set in 5 minutes.
  3. Cover in green sugar for an added festive look!
